This involves an inclusive, multi-stakeholder strategy that relies on a strong scientific foundation, open solutions, and common standards. The members stressed the necessity of a balanced approach to manage the potential safety and security risks, including the prevention of malicious AI applications.
The 'New Delhi 2023 GPAI Ministerial Declaration' was a focal point of the summit. It aims to solidify GPAI’s identity as an independent initiative crucial for global cooperation on AI governance and innovation. The declaration emphasizes GPAI’s role in fostering international dialogue and partnerships to advance AI technologies in a manner that aligns with ethical standards and societal values.
The council also expressed its intention to collaborate with international organizations and United Nations specialized agencies to foster inclusive discussions on AI. This approach aims to build a cohesive framework for AI that benefits all sectors of society while maintaining stringent ethical considerations.
As GPAI continues to navigate the complex AI landscape, the members look forward to their next summit in Serbia later this year, which will build on the progress made in New Delhi. This forthcoming meeting will further solidify GPAI’s commitment to global AI governance and innovation, reinforcing India’s leadership in the AI domain.
India’s involvement in GPAI underscores its growing influence in the global AI ecosystem, setting the stage for continued advancements in AI governance and ethical AI development on a global scale.
